It is no surprise that Persona 5 Royal offers quality DLC content, especially since its predecessor Persona 5 was renowned for this very feat. The Persona 5 Royal DLC features several enticing items, such as character costumes, recovery items, in-game money, and high-level Personas. These elements can help newer players navigate the game's difficulty, while allowing veteran players to avoid the time-consuming resource grind.
Some of the DLC items are purely cosmetic, such as the character costumes, but the extra recovery items and money can save players a ton of time. Since working a part-time job in Persona 5 Royal occupies an entire chunk of the day, players are prevented from using this time for more meaningful activities. With a few supplies on the house, however, players can get a headstart and spend their time how they wish.
For PC and Xbox players, the DLC content is bundled with Persona 5 Royal automatically. PS4 players, on the other hand, must manually claim the Persona 5 Royal DLC Bundle on the PlayStation Store. In both cases, the DLC is completely free. Once players have claimed the DLC, they should enter the game and travel to Joker's room in Café Leblanc. In this room, there is a large cardboard box next to the television. Players must walk up to this box and interact with it. This triggers a piece of Morgana dialogue, then lists every DLC item that is being received. This process must only be done once.
Now that the DLC content has been activated, players will instantly gain a generous amount of money and recovery items. They also receive dozens of high-level Personas, which can be viewed by entering the Velvet Room and opening the "View/Summon Personas" option. All of these DLC Personas are available to summon for free, and span levels 11-90. These Personas are also endowed with powerful skills like Ghastly Wail and Oratario.
In order to equip costumes to their characters, players must open the "Equip" menu. Here, they can pick the character they desire, then select the "Outfit" option to view all available costumes. Once equipped, these costumes can be viewed in the Metaverse and during combat, although they are not visible in the normal world. Costumes do not alter a character's offensive or defensive abilities, since they are intended only as cosmetics.
Players can change a character's outfit at any time, as long as they are not in a story cutscene or battle. There is no preview option for costumes, so it is recommended that players try on outfits in Mementos or a Palace, as they are immediately visible once equipped. These costumes include various items, such as school uniforms from past Persona games and superhero suits.
Persona 5 Royal is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
